Welcome to the Houston Center for Mental Health and Deafness

The Center was formed in 2006 in response to the demand for mental health services for the deaf and hard-of-hearing consumers in the Houston area. The employees of the Center are all fluent in sign language and aim to provide culturally affirmative services to all clients. The Center is currently able to offer the following services:

  • Counseling (Individual, Family, and Child)
  • Psychological Testing (Clinical, Disability, and Educational Diagnostic)
  • Forensic Evaluations
  • Parenting Classes

Services we plan to add at HCMHD

  • Drug and alcohol counseling/courses
  • Groups for hearing parents of deaf children
  • Anger management
  • Domestic violence courses for both men and women
  • Mental Health Interpreter training
